Field Work

in

Field Work is a unique practical-based course which requires participants to be involved in a local ministry of some kind. This could include children's and youth ministries, church based ministries such as music or sound, or local Christian ministries and missions such as scripture teaching or outreach.

The audio for this unit consists of two 80 minute sessions. In this subject Nathain Secker talks with John McLean, a lecturer at the Presbyterian Theological Centre; Karen Astles, a marine biologist and volunteer for Presbyterian Youth; and Emma Carpenter, a former student of this subject. The audio details approaches to field work, what it can mean, how to find a ministry suited to you and why this unit is important. It then considers mentoring relationships before turning to assignment tasks and suggestions on how to give the maximum and get the most out of your field work experience.

Please note that the Australian College of Theology lists this subject under the title "Lay Ministries Field Education".
